Another strong year for California hip hop in the books. J. Stone released the final installment of his Definition series, 03 Greedo was released from prison and we got solid efforts from many of our favorites. Below you will find our year end awards and a playlist celebrating our favorite tracks of the year.

J. Stone closed his Definition series perfectly with The Definition of Success, which is our album of the year. The crown jewell of the album is the Hit-Boy produced Foundation featuring the late Nipsey Hussle. Our Rapper of the Year also dropped Rollin Stone with DJ Drama, as well as dropping Maybach Season on January 1st 2024.

Kenny Tweed and 4rAx, collectively known as The Mekanix, are no strangers to California hip hop enthusiasts. The pair dropped two albums in our top 5 this year, Soakin Game with DaBoii and Restoration 2, as well Authenticity with The Delinquents.

LaRussell (formerly known as Tota) has been on the rise for a while but people were really taking notes in 2023. He dropped 8 solid projects in the year and we believe no one is more deserving of the Rookie of the Year title. When this is written he has already dropped a project with Hit-Boy in 2024.
